About Bundaberg Port Marina
Bundaberg Port Marina is one of Queensland’s most complete cruising bases, positioned at Burnett Heads near the mouth of the Burnett River. It is both a home port and a recognised international arrival point, with the southern Great Barrier Reef offshore and Bundaberg’s services within reach. We think the marina’s strength is the rare balance of serious passage support, an active boatyard and a genuinely social cruising community.
The operator now describes approximately 200 floating berths for vessels from about eight to 50 metres, arranged across nine fingers with multihull and end-tie options. Power ranges from everyday single-phase connections to metered three-phase supplies for larger vessels, and fresh water, lighting and courtesy Wi-Fi are provided around the berths. The current capacity is greater than the earlier YouSail profile, so owners should use the marina’s live berth information when enquiring.
For maintenance, the adjoining yard and marine precinct are a major reason to stop. A 75-tonne travel lift, hardstand and dry storage support antifouling, repairs and larger projects, while onsite trades and a chandlery reduce the need to coordinate work across town. Low- and high-flow diesel are available around the clock, with premium unleaded by appointment. Amenities include showers, toilets, laundry, recycling and a cruiser-focused camp kitchen.
Life beyond the work list is equally appealing. A cafe and takeaway, gift shop, tour access and a courtesy bus into Bundaberg help crews settle in. Lady Musgrave Island and the southern reef are the obvious offshore drawcards, while K’gari and the Great Sandy Strait shape southbound plans. International crews can arrange border and biosecurity formalities at this official Port of Entry, which gives the marina a distinctive global cruising atmosphere.
Our take is that Bundaberg Port Marina deserves consideration whenever a coastal itinerary needs more than a simple overnight berth. It is well suited to passage preparation, technical work, seasonal storage and a restorative pause ashore. Confirm entrance guidance, berth allocation and any customs requirements before arrival; once secured, the combination of capability and friendly cruiser culture makes this a particularly reassuring Queensland stop. We would happily build extra time here into a serious coastal cruising plan.
Services
The marina publishes approximately 200 floating berths for vessels from eight to 50 metres, including multihull and end-tie arrangements. Berths provide fresh water, security lighting, courtesy Wi-Fi and power options from standard single-phase outlets to metered three-phase connections. Marina attendants can assist on request during office hours, while visiting owners should submit complete vessel dimensions and insurance details when booking.
Fuel facilities provide low- and high-flow diesel around the clock, with premium unleaded available by appointment. The boatyard offers a 75-tonne travel lift, concrete hardstand and dry storage, backed by onsite trades and a stocked chandlery. Request a detailed quote for lifting, pressure cleaning, environmental charges, hardstand time, contractor access and relaunch before committing to a maintenance programme.
Shore facilities include toilets, showers, laundry, recycling, a cruiser camp kitchen and barbecue area, cafe and takeaway, gift shop and a courtesy bus into Bundaberg. The marina is an official international Port of Entry and supports coordinated customs and biosecurity clearance. International arrivals must follow the operator’s published notice and clearance process exactly. All crews should confirm current entrance information, fuel procedures, pet rules and transport times before arrival.
Ideal for
Australian and international cruising yachts, multihulls, larger motor vessels and owners planning maintenance, storage or passage preparation. It is especially strong for southern Great Barrier Reef itineraries and formal international arrivals.
What we love
- Around 200 floating berths accommodating vessels up to 50 metres.
- Official Port of Entry support for international cruising arrivals.
- A 75-tonne travel lift with hardstand, storage and onsite trades.
- Round-the-clock low- and high-flow diesel access.
- A sociable cruiser base near the southern Great Barrier Reef.
To keep in mind
Use the marina’s current berth information because capacity and vessel limits have recently been updated. International arrivals must follow advance-notice, customs and biosecurity procedures. Confirm Burnett River entrance guidance, fuel arrangements, yard pricing and seasonal availability before committing to a passage.
