About Cervantes Maritime Facility

Cervantes Maritime Facility is a purposeful public jetty on Western Australia’s Turquoise Coast, serving fishing and recreational vessels in a town shaped by the rock-lobster industry. It is not a conventional marina with a large inventory of private pens. We think its strength lies in doing a smaller number of important things well: providing a robust service jetty, fuel, utilities and arranged short-term accommodation on a coast where practical support can be widely spaced.

Transport WA describes a public service jetty with pedestrian access, single- and three-phase power, water and marine diesel. The jetty is engineered for vessels up to 50 tonnes displacement within published berthing limits, with separate restrictions for deck, crane and vehicle loads. Casual, overnight and emergency accommodation can be requested through the department, but users must arrange it before arrival and comply with state facility conditions and fees.

Diesel is supplied by Comen Fuel WA and requires the operator’s fuel card. That detail matters for passage planning: arriving after hours without the correct account is not the same as reaching an unrestricted fuel dock. Power may also attract a fee, and insurance, gas and electrical requirements apply to visiting vessels. The facility is best approached as managed government infrastructure rather than a spontaneous public tie-up.

Cervantes adds real destination appeal. White beaches, offshore reefs and islands, fishing grounds and the Pinnacles region give crews plenty of reasons to pause, while the town can cover everyday supplies. Coastal exposure, swell and weather deserve respect, particularly for smaller craft. What stands out to us is the way this modest jetty links working-fishing heritage, recreational boating and a memorable stretch of Western Australian coast.

Our take is that Cervantes Maritime Facility suits self-sufficient coastal cruisers, commercial fishing craft and recreational crews needing an arranged service stop. It does not replace a full marina or boatyard, yet its fuel, power, water and possible overnight access can be extremely valuable. Contact Transport WA and the fuel supplier in advance, confirm every condition, and it becomes a useful Turquoise Coast waypoint. For a prepared crew, modest infrastructure here can solve a significant passage-planning problem.

Services

The service jetty provides pedestrian access, water, lighting, single- and three-phase electricity and marine diesel. Published structural limits include a maximum 50-tonne displacement vessel berthing under specified speed and approach conditions, plus separate deck, crane and vehicle loads. Skippers must confirm their vessel is suitable and receive any required documentation before use; power and jetty charges may apply.

Casual, overnight and emergency vessel accommodation can be arranged on request through Transport WA. This is managed service-jetty access, not a permanent recreational berth inventory. Provide overall length, beam, draft, displacement, arrival time, insurance and electrical requirements when enquiring. Follow the assigned position, duration and loading rules, and do not assume that an apparently open section is available.

Marine diesel is operated by Comen Fuel WA and requires a Comen fuel card. Arrange the card and confirm supply before departure. Broader chandlery, pump-out, repair and haul-out services should not be assumed onsite. Review current coastal weather, wave, tide and navigation warnings, and log on with the appropriate marine-rescue service. Crews should arrive provisioned and carry an alternative plan if weather or jetty availability changes.

Ideal for

Self-sufficient Turquoise Coast cruisers, fishing vessels and recreational boats needing arranged diesel, utilities or an overnight service-jetty stop. It suits crews comfortable with government facility rules and advance coordination.

What we love

  • A robust public service jetty on the Turquoise Coast.
  • Single- and three-phase power plus fresh water available.
  • Marine diesel supplied directly from the jetty.
  • Casual, overnight and emergency accommodation by arrangement.
  • Cervantes beaches, fishing grounds and Pinnacles country nearby.

To keep in mind

This is a managed service jetty, not an open marina berth. Obtain approval, confirm fees and meet insurance and electrical conditions before arrival. Diesel requires the supplier’s fuel card, and coastal swell or weather may alter an otherwise straightforward plan.
