About CleanLIFT Marine Complex
CleanLIFT Marine Complex is a specialist haul-out and refit yard in Hobart’s Prince of Wales Bay maritime precinct. It is not a recreational marina, despite its waterfront access and temporary wharf arrangements. We think that distinction helps owners understand its real strength: CleanLIFT is built for getting vessels out of the water, protected under cover and efficiently through maintenance, painting or a larger technical project.
The yard’s 70-tonne travel lift accommodates vessels up to 6.5 metres in beam, covering a broad range of yachts, motorboats, multihulls and commercial craft within the remaining geometry. A lift-out, roll-in system moves boats towards hardstand or undercover areas, while pressure washing, power, water and controlled waste disposal support the practical workflow. Exact length, draft, sling positions and displacement must still be assessed for each vessel.
Dedicated work areas include a paint shed and sandblasting bay, allowing preparation and coating tasks to occur in a more controlled environment. Onsite trades include painters, diesel mechanics, marine electricians, shipwrights, detailers, stainless-steel specialists and general maintenance support. Parts sourcing is helped by nearby hardware and chandlery businesses. Owners can therefore coordinate several work streams without treating the yard merely as a crane appointment.
Prince of Wales Bay is one of Tasmania’s established marine-industrial areas, with Hobart and the River Derwent close by. Neighbouring Prince of Wales Bay Marina provides separate berthing, fuel and pump-out services; those amenities must not be attributed to CleanLIFT. The yard may charge for temporary wharf use connected with booked work, but that does not create a general visitor marina. What stands out to us is the clarity and depth of its technical purpose.
Our take is that CleanLIFT is strongest for owners planning a structured haul-out, antifoul, paint programme or refit. The undercover capacity and concentration of trades are especially valuable in variable Tasmanian weather. Send accurate vessel information, obtain a detailed quote and coordinate trades before arrival. Used as intended, the complex is a capable and convenient service base for keeping Derwent and visiting boats in strong condition. Owners tackling multi-stage projects should particularly appreciate the yard’s compact concentration of practical resources.
Services
CleanLIFT operates a 70-tonne travel lift for vessels up to 6.5 metres in beam, supported by hardstand and undercover work areas. Facilities include pressure washing, power, water, environmental waste controls, a paint shed and a sandblasting bay. Every lift requires assessment of length, beam, draft, displacement, hull form and sling points; the headline capacity alone does not guarantee suitability.
Onsite trades include painters, diesel mechanics, marine electricians, shipwrights, detailers, stainless-steel specialists and general boat-maintenance providers. Owners should obtain separate or coordinated written estimates covering lift, wash, hardstand or shed time, supports, utilities, waste, materials, labour and relaunch. Confirm whether owner work or outside contractors are allowed and what insurance or induction they require.
Temporary wharf use may be available in connection with booked yard work and can attract a separate charge. CleanLIFT does not advertise a general recreational berth inventory. Permanent berthing, fuel and pump-out in Prince of Wales Bay are separate services from a neighbouring marina. Arrange arrival timing, towing if required, security access, after-hours contacts and weather contingencies directly with the yard before moving the vessel.
Ideal for
Tasmanian and visiting yacht, motorboat, multihull and commercial-vessel owners planning haul-out, antifouling, painting or refit work. It especially suits projects benefiting from undercover space and multiple trades onsite.
What we love
- A 70-tonne travel lift accepting vessels up to 6.5 metres wide.
- Undercover work areas for more dependable project scheduling.
- Dedicated paint and sandblasting facilities onsite.
- A broad group of marine trades within the same complex.
- Environmental waste controls built into the yard workflow.
To keep in mind
CleanLIFT is a boatyard, not a recreational marina. Temporary wharf access relates to booked work, while nearby berthing and fuel belong to another operator. Confirm lift geometry, yard rules, contractor access and every project charge before arrival.
