About Corleone Marina Balmain
Corleone Marina Balmain occupies a secluded inner-harbour pocket only a short walk from Balmain's cafés and restaurants. The marina combines walk-on wet berths and swing moorings with one of Sydney Harbour's increasingly rare working slipways. We think that dual identity is its greatest strength: owners can keep a boat close to the city and maintain it through an established shipwright and mechanical team without shifting to a distant service yard.
Wet berths range from about 10 to 18 metres and include power, water, pump-out and waste disposal under current arrangements. Dockmasters assist with arrivals and departures seven days a week. Moorings also cater for boats up to approximately 18 metres, with a complimentary tender service for clients. Birkenhead Point lies across the water for shopping and refuelling, while Balmain's village centre adds food, transport and day-to-day convenience ashore.
The slipway brings unusual capability to a compact city marina. Two cradles handle a range of timber and fibreglass yachts and powerboats, including deep-keel racers, broad-beamed catamarans and fishing vessels up to about 60 feet where dimensions permit. Resident shipwright and mechanical services include antifouling, detailing, hull and deck repairs, surveys, modifications, engine diagnosis and maintenance across outboard, inboard and larger diesel installations.
For owners, that breadth can simplify annual maintenance and unexpected repairs. It also means the precinct is a genuine working environment, where yard schedules, contractor rules and safe access matter. Full length, beam, draft, displacement and hull details should accompany any berth or slipping enquiry. Fuel is not advertised at the marina itself, so a Birkenhead or alternative harbour fuel plan should be confirmed rather than assumed.
Our take is that Balmain is particularly attractive for established Sydney boaters who value personal service and technical continuity. The setting delivers sunsets and inner-harbour access without losing its practical heritage. Space is naturally constrained in this part of Sydney, and availability may involve an enquiry or wait list. For a suitable vessel, however, the combination of berth, mooring, tender and skilled maintenance is difficult to replicate so close to the CBD. The personal scale also encourages a direct working relationship with the marina team.
Services
Corleone Marina Balmain provides walk-on wet berths from approximately 10 to 18 metres, with power, water, pump-out and waste disposal included under the operator's current description. Dockmasters are available seven days a week to assist with movements. Nearby swing moorings accommodate suitable vessels up to about 18 metres and include a complimentary tender service for mooring customers.
Two slipway cradles support timber and fibreglass keelboats, powerboats, wider multihulls and some commercial-style vessels up to roughly 60 feet, subject to geometry and weight. Resident shipwright and mechanical teams offer antifouling, detailing, hull, deck and topside repair, surveys, modifications and servicing for outboard, inboard and diesel engines. Every project requires a confirmed lift plan and written scope.
The office advertises seven-day hours, while shopping and fuel are available across the water at Birkenhead rather than at an onsite fuel dock. Provide full vessel dimensions when enquiring and confirm availability, tender schedule, berth depth, parking, access and utility charges. Yard customers should clarify hardstand time, materials, outside contractors, environmental fees and relaunch timing before authorising work.
Ideal for
Inner-Sydney yacht and powerboat owners wanting walk-on berthing or a serviced mooring with a capable slipway, shipwright and mechanical team close to home.
What we love
- Wet berths and moorings for boats up to approximately 18 metres.
- A complimentary seven-day tender service for mooring clients.
- One of the harbour's increasingly scarce traditional slipways.
- Resident shipwright and mechanical expertise in the same precinct.
- Balmain dining and inner-harbour cruising within easy reach.
To keep in mind
Fuel is across the water rather than onsite, so confirm its hours. Slipway suitability depends on beam, draft, weight and hull form, not length alone. Central-Sydney demand makes early enquiry sensible.
