About Daydream Island Resort Marina
Daydream Island Resort Marina turns arrival into part of the holiday. Set on the western side of Daydream Island in the Whitsundays, it gives private boats direct access to a full island resort rather than a conventional town marina. Eight marina berths and four moorings create an intimate facility for pre-booked visitors. We think its real strength is the experience ashore: within minutes of securing the boat, guests can be dining, swimming or exploring the resort's remarkable Living Reef.
The marina accepts advance berth reservations across several vessel-length bands, while the four eastern moorings are limited to vessels up to 11.5 metres. Mooring users need their own tender and must use the designated small finger pontoon. Water is available at marina berths, but the resort's published guide says there is no berth-side power. VHF channel 12 and the marina telephone are used during published office hours, currently 8am to 5pm.
Daydream's facilities make the stop distinctive. Restaurants and bars range from casual poolside options to polished waterfront dining, while pools, coral beaches, rainforest walks and non-motorised watersports fill an easy day ashore. The Living Reef lagoon wraps around the resort's central building and supports more than 100 species of marine life. Accommodation turns a short marina visit into a proper island stay, provided every passenger has the required booking or day-visitor access.
This is a resort landing rather than a repair or provisioning base. The marina does not advertise fuel, a boatyard or a travel lift, so arrive self-sufficient and plan those needs elsewhere in the Whitsundays. Bookings are compulsory, pets are not permitted, and the current rules do not allow guests to sleep aboard a berthed vessel overnight. Mooring outside the marina or using Lovers Cove does not provide authorised resort entry.
Our take is that Daydream is ideal when the destination matters as much as the passage. It suits couples, families and charter itineraries wanting a memorable resort day or overnight room ashore. Confirm berth dimensions, insurance, passenger access and current resort inclusions before arrival, then approach with the marina's guidance. With the practical details settled, few Whitsunday stops make stepping off the boat feel quite so immediately like a holiday.
Services
Daydream Island Resort Marina provides eight pre-booked berths plus four moorings on the eastern side of the breakwater. Published berth pricing covers several vessel-length bands, but allocation remains subject to the marina's approval. The four moorings accept vessels up to 11.5 metres and require users to carry their own tender. Water is available at the berths; the current guide states that berth-side power is not provided.
Marina staff can be contacted on VHF channel 12 or by telephone during published office hours. Resort access opens restaurants, bars, pools, beaches, the Living Reef and organised activities according to the visitor's accommodation or day-pass booking. Fuel, haul-out, repairs and a travel lift are not advertised onsite.
Reserve before arrival and provide full vessel dimensions, passenger numbers and insurance details. Every passenger needs resort accommodation or approved day-visitor access. Confirm check-in instructions, weather limits, fees and the assigned berth or mooring. Overnight sleeping aboard is prohibited under the published rules, pets are not permitted, and mooring at Lovers Cove does not grant island access. Mooring crews should confirm tender landing procedures before departure.
Ideal for
Whitsunday cruising couples, families and charter guests wanting a pre-booked island-resort stop with dining, accommodation, pools and reef experiences rather than fuel or heavy marine services.
What we love
- A memorable boat arrival directly into a tropical island resort.
- Eight marina berths plus four eastern-side moorings.
- Immediate access to the Living Reef and island activities.
- Dining, pools, beaches and accommodation moments from the dock.
- A wonderfully different stop within a wider Whitsundays itinerary.
To keep in mind
Bookings and approved resort access are compulsory for every passenger. Published rules prohibit sleeping aboard overnight and do not allow pets. Berths have water but no stated power, while fuel and repair services must be planned elsewhere.
