About Fenwicks Marina
Fenwicks Marina is a family-owned marina and hardstand facility in Brooklyn, tucked into a sheltered reach of the Hawkesbury River about an hour's drive north of Sydney. The business has been operating on this site since 1985, and its connection to the Fenwick maritime family reaches much further back. We think that continuity shows in the marina's character: it combines capable infrastructure with the kind of personal arrival assistance and practical local knowledge that boat owners genuinely value.
There are 60 floating-concrete berths for vessels up to 19 metres, with power, water and free-to-air television connections at each berth. The protected setting makes Fenwicks an appealing home base for exploring the Hawkesbury, Cowan Creek and Broken Bay, while Brooklyn's rail connection, shops and food options keep the marina accessible from Sydney. Fuel is available seven days a week, and client parking, secure after-hours amenity access, ice, LPG and waste facilities make regular boating easier.
The hardstand and lifting operation set Fenwicks apart from a simple wet-berth marina. Its travel lift handles vessels up to 50 tonnes, 23 metres long and six metres in beam, supporting haul-outs, road transport and survey lifts. Owners can arrange antifouling, PropSpeed, detailing and work from on-site mechanics, marine electricians, shipwrights, fabricators, painters, engineers and cover makers. Limited do-it-yourself hardstand work is also possible under the marina's induction, insurance, environmental and operating rules.
What stands out to us is the way the marina brings berthing and maintenance into one manageable stop. A boat can move from its pen to the hardstand, receive coordinated specialist attention and return to the water without the owner piecing together a distant service chain. The marina's Clean Marinas accreditation also signals an organised approach to environmental practice, an especially welcome quality on a river system as beautiful and ecologically significant as the Hawkesbury.
Our take is that Fenwicks suits owners who want a well-supported boating life rather than simply somewhere to tie up. Contact the team before arrival so they can nominate a berth and assist on approach. Air draft also deserves attention: the marina advises an approximate 11.8-metre rail-bridge clearance at mean high tide. With vessel dimensions and access checked beforehand, this is a warm, capable base for both weekend cruising and ongoing vessel care.
Services
Fenwicks provides 60 floating-concrete marina berths for boats up to 19 metres. Each berth has power, water and a free-to-air television connection. Diesel, regular unleaded and premium unleaded fuel are available, including for boats and cars, and the marina publishes seven-day fuel access. Clients also have a sealed 60-space car park with lighting and security, plus coded 24-hour access to toilets, showers and vanities.
The 50-tonne travel lift can handle vessels up to 23 metres long and six metres wide for hardstand placement, transport transfers, surveys and insurance inspections. On-site services include antifouling, PropSpeed, detailing, mechanical and electrical work, engineering, shipwright and fabrication support, painting, brokerage and marine covers. DIY hardstand access is available only under current induction, insurance, time, noise and operational rules.
Practical extras include ice, LPG, oil, food-and-drink vending, waste and recycling stations, luggage trolleys and unloading bays. Call before approaching by water so staff can confirm the berth and help with arrival. Check air draft carefully because the rail bridge is published at about 11.8 metres clearance at mean high tide. Office and yard hours differ from secure client amenity access, and all lifts or trade work should be booked ahead.
Ideal for
Hawkesbury River cruisers, Sydney-based boat owners and vessels needing a combined wet berth, haul-out, hardstand and coordinated maintenance base.
What we love
- Family-run service with deep maritime roots
- Sheltered access to the Hawkesbury River
- Sixty well-serviced floating berths
- A capable 50-tonne travel lift
- Extensive on-site maintenance trades
To keep in mind
Confirm berth availability, vessel dimensions and bridge clearance before arrival, especially for yachts with taller rigs. Hardstand and DIY work must follow the marina's booking, induction, insurance and noise requirements. Advance coordination helps the team deliver the personal service for which the marina is known.
