About Hayman Marina (InterContinental Hayman)
Hayman Marina offers one of the Whitsundays' most distinctive arrivals: a private-island harbour attached directly to InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef. With just 24 berths and accommodation for vessels up to 45 metres, the experience feels intimate and deliberately controlled. We think its appeal is less about conventional marina infrastructure and more about where the berth leads—to resort pools, refined dining, spa treatments, beaches and a polished island interlude between days of cruising.
Every visit requires an approved booking, and confirmation must be received before entering the marina. The application asks for vessel dimensions, registration, insurance, passenger details and a named captain or caretaker so the team can assign a suitable position. Day visits, resort-linked overnight berthing and approved overnight stays aboard are priced differently. Current rules also require substantial public-liability cover, with the exact threshold determined by vessel and booking conditions.
Marina services are intentionally limited. Water-tank refills and rubbish disposal are available, while metered electricity is charged separately. Vessel washing is prohibited, and there are no public marina restrooms or automatic transport between the harbour and resort. What stands out to us is the honest trade-off: crews receive access to an extraordinary resort setting, but should arrive with the boat already fuelled, provisioned and operationally ready rather than expecting a full technical-service stop.
Resort access comes with clear conduct standards. Smart attire is expected, pets are not permitted, and pontoons must remain free of tenders, equipment and supplies. Swimming, fishing, personal watercraft, parties and music are prohibited within the marina itself, as are all discharges. These rules preserve a calm, presentation-focused environment and should be shared with every guest and crew member before arrival, particularly on a charter or larger yacht.
Our take is that Hayman Marina is ideal for owners and captains who want to turn a Whitsundays passage into a special island experience. Treat the stop as a destination booking rather than an improvised harbour call: apply early, confirm the resort plan, provide complete documents and clarify shore access. When expectations are aligned, the marina delivers something rare—a secure berth that opens directly into one of Australia's most memorable luxury island stays.
Services
Hayman Marina has 24 berths and can accommodate vessels up to approximately 45 metres, subject to individual assessment and availability. Entry is prohibited without confirmed prior approval. The online application requires arrival and departure details, passenger count, vessel length and beam, registration, captain contact information and proof of insurance. Berthing categories distinguish day visits, resort-linked overnight stays and approved nights aboard the vessel.
Water-tank refills and rubbish disposal are provided. Shore electricity is metered and billed separately according to consumption. Vessel washdowns are not allowed, and the marina has no public restrooms or routine transport service to the resort. Fuel, pump-out, repairs and chandlery are not published marina inclusions, so complete those tasks elsewhere before arrival.
Guests may access the resort under the conditions attached to their confirmed booking, with restaurants, pools, spa and island activities available subject to reservations and operating schedules. Smart resort dress standards apply. Pets, marina swimming, fishing, personal watercraft, parties, music and overboard discharge are prohibited. Confirm whether remaining aboard overnight is authorised, because it requires management consent. Carry booking confirmation and call the marina team if arrival timing or vessel particulars change.
