About Hillarys Boat Harbour

Hillarys Boat Harbour is one of Perth's largest and most versatile recreational waterfronts, combining a government-managed marina, six-lane launching facility and substantial marine services with the dining and entertainment of Sorrento Quay. It works equally well as a home base, a trailer-boat launch point or the beginning of a coastal passage. We think the harbour's greatest strength is choice: owners, visiting crews and families can each use the precinct in a different way without losing access to practical boating infrastructure.

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure manages 410 pens ranging from 10 to 33 metres, including selected catamaran and alongside options. Pen services include water, lighting, CCTV and single-phase power, with three-phase supply in designated larger-berth areas. Toilets and showers are reserved for penholders nearby. Accommodation is available on casual, short- and long-term terms, but demand is consistently high and applicants should speak with harbour officers before submitting the relevant form or waitlist request.

Trailer boats are well supported by six concrete ramps, catwalks on both sides, washdown facilities and paid trailer parking. A limited lay-by mooring area assists short operations near the ramp. The 100-metre service wharf provides power, water and firefighting equipment under published loading and booking rules. What stands out to us is the ability to launch, berth, service or provision within one large precinct rather than crossing Perth between separate facilities.

Fuel is available around the clock from a 50-metre jetty immediately inside the entrance, with diesel and unleaded purchased by credit card. Beside the ramps, an independent boat-lifting, storage and maintenance facility provides access to mechanical repairs and chandlery. The harbour also offers fish-cleaning stations, flare disposal and extensive accessible facilities, including a universal-access boating jetty, fishing platform and mobility-friendly pathways.

Our take is that Hillarys suits almost every kind of Perth recreational boater, from trailer-boat families to larger penholders and Rottnest-bound crews. The precinct can become extremely busy, and current parking arrangements continue to evolve, so allow time and follow signs. Confirm berth availability, fuel-jetty access and weather before departure. With a clear plan, Hillarys delivers an unusually complete mix of boating support and enjoyable time ashore.

Services

Hillarys Boat Harbour provides 410 managed pens from 10 to 33 metres, including limited catamaran and alongside accommodation. Berth services include water, lighting, CCTV and single-phase electricity, with three-phase power on designated jetties. Penholder toilets and showers are located nearby. Casual, short-term and annual accommodation is offered subject to availability, and demand may require a waitlist.

Six concrete ramps have catwalks on both sides, supported by washdown facilities and fee-paid trailer parking. A limited lay-by mooring area is available near the ramps. The 100-metre service wharf offers single- and three-phase power, water and firefighting equipment under published operating and load conditions. Fish-cleaning facilities and expired-flare disposal are also available.

A 50-metre refuelling jetty immediately inside the harbour entrance supplies diesel and unleaded petrol 24 hours a day through credit-card payment. An independent facility west of the ramps offers boat lifting, storage, maintenance, mechanical-repair access and chandlery. Public toilets, shops, dining and entertainment fill the wider precinct, alongside extensive accessible infrastructure. Confirm the assigned berth, ramp parking, service-wharf permission and any lifting job directly with the responsible operator before arrival.

Ideal for

Perth penholders, trailer-boat families, Rottnest-bound crews and recreational or commercial vessels wanting fuel, services and shoreside attractions together.

What we love

  • A large range of 410 marina pens
  • Six well-supported public launching lanes
  • Twenty-four-hour diesel and petrol access
  • Marine lifting, repairs and chandlery nearby
  • Excellent dining and accessible public facilities

To keep in mind

Pens are in high demand, so confirm availability before submitting forms or making passage plans. Ramp, trailer-parking and service-wharf charges or restrictions apply, while precinct parking arrangements may change. Busy weekends reward an early arrival and careful attention to harbour traffic and current coastal conditions.
