About Port Huon Marina (formerly Kermandie Marina)

Port Huon Marina, formerly Kermandie Marina, is a friendly 80-berth floating marina and working boatyard on the Huon River. The setting places owners between Huonville and Dover, with sheltered-water cruising towards the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and southern Tasmania's mountains, orchards and quiet bays all around. We think the marina's personality comes from this mix of landscape and capability: it feels relaxed and local while still supporting substantial vessel work.

The marina advertises berths up to 82 feet, or roughly 25 metres, and a maximum draw of 11 feet, about 3.35 metres. Every berth has water and power, with three-phase electricity available on request. Dock security covers the berthing area and onsite parking is provided. Dimensions alone do not guarantee suitability, so confirm length, beam, draft, displacement, electrical load and current approach conditions before accepting an allocation.

Showers and toilets are located onsite, giving visiting and resident crews essential shore facilities. Laundry is not at the marina; the operator directs users to Geeveston or Franklin. The adjacent Kermandie Hotel provides accommodation, a restaurant, bar and bottle shop, but these are independent hotel services rather than marina inclusions. What stands out to us is the easy rhythm of the place: practical boat facilities, a meal next door and beautiful cool-climate cruising within reach.

The upgraded boatyard has a 63-tonne travel lift, hardstand and boat ramp, supporting yachts, fishing boats and other suitable vessels. Haul-outs require advance booking and confirmation of beam, weight, underwater appendages, lifting points and work scope. A nearby chandlery is available in Franklin and LPG in Geeveston. Fuel, sewage pump-out, Wi-Fi and onsite laundry are not verified, so plan these needs separately before an extended stay or maintenance period.

Our take is that Port Huon is especially well suited to cruising sailors, larger recreational boats and owners seeking serious haul-out capacity in the Huon Valley. The sheltered river setting is inviting, but southern Tasmanian weather and navigation still deserve careful preparation. Call ahead for berth and lift availability, confirm the approach and organise offsite supplies. With that planning done, the marina makes an appealing, capable base for exploring one of Tasmania's most atmospheric cruising regions.

Services

Port Huon Marina offers 80 floating wet berths, each supplied with water and power. Three-phase electricity can be arranged on request. Published limits include an 82-foot maximum berth length and 11-foot maximum draw, but every vessel must be assessed for beam, displacement and manoeuvrability as well. Confirm availability, electrical needs, access and approach conditions before arrival.

Dock security and onsite parking support berth holders, while showers and toilets are available at the marina. Laundry is offsite in Geeveston or Franklin. The neighbouring Kermandie Hotel offers accommodation, dining, a bar and bottle shop under its own terms. A chandlery is located nearby in Franklin and LPG can be sourced in Geeveston.

The onsite boatyard operates a 63-tonne travel lift, hardstand and boat ramp for suitable yachts and working boats. Book lifting and storage in advance, supplying weight, beam, draft, appendage and lifting-point details. Confirm contractor rules and environmental procedures before starting work. Fuel, sewage pump-out, Wi-Fi and onsite laundry are not verified. Arrange these separately and use current weather, river and approach information for each visit.

Ideal for

Huon Valley cruising sailors and larger boat owners wanting secure powered berths, essential amenities and a capable 63-tonne haul-out facility.

What we love

  • Eighty berths in a scenic Huon River setting
  • Water and power at every berth
  • A substantial 63-tonne travel lift
  • Showers, toilets, security and parking onsite
  • Dining and accommodation immediately next door

To keep in mind

Confirm draft and approach conditions as well as berth dimensions. Laundry, fuel, pump-out and Wi-Fi are not verified onsite, and hotel amenities are separate from the marina. Travel-lift and hardstand work require advance assessment and booking.
