About Shellharbour Marina
Shellharbour Marina is the centrepiece of the purpose-built Shell Cove harbour, giving South Coast boat owners a modern base with direct access to the Tasman Sea. The basin sits within a growing waterfront neighbourhood of promenades, restaurants and everyday shops rather than an isolated marine compound. We think that mix is the marina's defining advantage: it works as a serious boating address while giving crews plenty to enjoy within an easy walk of the berth.
Stage 2 was completed in 2024, bringing the marina to 270 berths for monohulls and multihulls. Permanent and casual options include positions from 10 to 35 metres, public-access berths and accommodation promoted for superyachts. Secure access, CCTV and Wi-Fi support the pontoons, while the Marina Services Centre provides the office, concierge, customer lounge, private ensuite amenities and laundry. Send complete vessel dimensions, draft, insurance and dates so the team can confirm the right berth.
The fuel wharf operates seven days a week, making Shellharbour useful both as a home marina and as a planned coastal stop. Jetski, kayak and stand-up paddleboard storage broadens the facility beyond larger boats, and lockable shore storage helps regular berth holders manage equipment. What stands out to us is how comfortably the practical services fit into the public waterfront; guests can refuel and settle the boat, then step directly into the dining precinct or continue to the nearby town centre.
The marina website promotes a future boat-maintenance facility, dry storage for 120 vessels up to 10 metres, chandlery and a 100-tonne marine straddle carrier for boats up to 8.8 metres wide. Its current facilities page gives a proposed completion in 2027, so none should be treated as operating today without direct confirmation. Until commissioning is formally announced, arrange major lifting, hardstand work, repairs and dry storage elsewhere or ask the marina for the latest project status and referrals.
Our take is that Shellharbour Marina best suits South Coast owners, coastal cruisers, multihulls and larger vessels wanting contemporary berthing beside an active waterfront. It lies about 50 nautical miles south of Sydney Harbour and 30 nautical miles north of Jervis Bay, a useful passage position when conditions cooperate. Offshore arrivals still need a suitable wind and swell window. Confirm berth allocation, fuel hours and live service availability before departure, and this polished harbour makes a welcoming base rather than merely a place to tie up.
Services
Shellharbour Marina provides 270 wet berths for monohull and multihull vessels, with permanent and casual options plus public-access and larger-vessel positions. Published berth sizes range from 10 to 35 metres. Secure access, CCTV and Wi-Fi support the marina. Submit length, beam, draft, displacement, insurance and dates for an assigned berth and current arrival instructions.
The Marina Services Centre includes the office, concierge support, customer lounge, private ensuite amenities and laundry. Lockable shore storage and storage for jetskis, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are promoted. The fuel wharf opens seven days a week; confirm current hours, fuel grades, payment process and any booking requirement before relying on it during a coastal passage.
Dry storage, a chandlery and the major boat-maintenance facility are future services, not verified current operations. The latest official facilities page proposes completion in 2027 and describes storage for 120 boats up to 10 metres and a 100-tonne straddle carrier for vessels up to 8.8 metres wide. Ask for a commissioning update before planning lifting or yard work. Check Tasman Sea conditions and harbour guidance before arrival.
Ideal for
South Coast owners, coastal cruisers, multihulls and larger vessels wanting modern secure berthing, fuel and quality amenities beside a lively waterfront precinct.
What we love
- Two hundred and seventy modern wet berths
- Berthing options for monohulls and multihulls
- A seven-day fuel wharf onsite
- Private amenities, lounge and laundry
- Dining and town-centre services close by
To keep in mind
The boatyard, dry storage, chandlery and 100-tonne lifting facility are still described as future works with proposed completion in 2027. Confirm which services are actually commissioned, and choose a suitable wind and swell window for the offshore approach.
