About Spinnaker Sound Marina (Sandstone Point Marina)

Sandstone Point Marina, long known as Spinnaker Sound Marina, occupies a protected basin opposite Bribie Island at the southern end of Pumicestone Passage. The marina combines established berthing and marine services with a waterfront precinct now moving through a major transformation. We think the enduring attraction is clear: owners can keep a boat within an hour's drive of Brisbane and step straight into sheltered passage cruising, Moreton Bay fishing and relaxed island-side weekends.

The operator promotes 150 secure berths for motor vessels up to 20 metres. Power and water are included, electronic gates control pontoon access, and CCTV, security patrols and ample parking support regular owners. Toilets, showers and laundry make longer visits more comfortable, while prepaid annual contracts attract discounts. Prospective berth holders should provide overall length, beam, draft, insurance and power needs, particularly for a larger boat or a stay during the precinct works.

The on-water fuel wharf sells diesel, premium and unleaded petrol, with a deckhand available during operating hours. Boat maintenance includes antifouling, fibreglass work and detailing, with mechanical work, canopies, upholstery, boat sales and hire also promoted. What stands out to us is the breadth of everyday ownership support beside the berth: this is more than a pleasant place to park a boat, and many routine jobs can be coordinated without leaving the marina.

Redevelopment plans retain the existing marina and fuel dock while adding a public boardwalk, landscaping, dining and other community spaces. The former website also describes dry-stack and hardstand storage, but current redevelopment material says the dry-stack and lifting facilities will be lost as the transformation proceeds. Owners should therefore confirm whether dry storage, lifting and associated access remain available on their exact dates rather than relying on an older service page.

Our take is that Sandstone Point Marina suits Moreton Bay powerboat owners, anglers and families who value secure serviced berthing with genuine maintenance and fuel nearby. Vessels heading north beneath the Bribie Island Bridge must account for air draft, published at roughly five metres at highest tide and seven metres at lowest tide. Check current works access, fuel hours, berth fit and passage depths before arrival. With those details settled, this is a capable marina in an exceptionally enjoyable boating location.

Services

Sandstone Point Marina provides about 150 protected berths for motor vessels up to 20 metres. Berths include power and water, with electronic gate access, CCTV, security patrols and parking. Shore amenities include toilets, showers and laundry. Submit full vessel dimensions, draft, insurance and electrical requirements so the marina can confirm fit, availability and any access changes during redevelopment.

The on-water fuel dock supplies diesel, premium and unleaded petrol, with a deckhand promoted onsite. Maintenance services include antifouling, fibreglass repairs and detailing, alongside mechanical work, canopies, upholstery, boat sales and boat hire. Confirm office and fuel hours, work bookings, contractor rules and whether a particular repair can be carried out afloat.

Dry-stack, hardstand and lifting availability is changing. Older operator pages promote storage for smaller boats, but the marina's redevelopment announcement says dry-stack and lifting facilities will be lost as works proceed. Verify live availability before relying on either. Crews travelling north under Bribie Island Bridge must also calculate air draft against tide; the operator publishes approximately five metres clearance at highest tide and seven at lowest tide.

Ideal for

Moreton Bay powerboat owners, anglers and families wanting secure serviced berths, fuel, maintenance and easy access to Pumicestone Passage.

What we love

  • Protected berthing opposite Bribie Island
  • Power and water included at the berth
  • Diesel and petrol on the fuel wharf
  • Useful maintenance services within the marina
  • A revitalised waterfront precinct taking shape

To keep in mind

Redevelopment is changing dry-stack, lifting and shore access, so confirm live availability rather than relying on older pages. Northbound boats must also account for Bribie Island Bridge clearance against tide, and all vessels should verify berth fit and works access.
