About Westernport Marina

Westernport Marina at Hastings is one of Victoria's largest marina complexes, with nearly 400 wet berths and a broad mix of dry, undercover and hardstand storage. Set in a sheltered cove on the Mornington Peninsula, it combines home-port convenience with direct access to Western Port's fishing, sailing and cruising grounds. We think its greatest strength is completeness: berthing, storage, fuel, maintenance, supplies and waterfront hospitality all sit within one managed precinct.

The marina caters for vessels up to about 75 feet, although individual berth dimensions and depths must still be matched carefully. Published depths range from roughly 1.1 to 2.6 metres at lowest astronomical tide. Owners can enquire about wet berthing or choose dry and hardstand options with launch and retrieval support. Complete insurance and registration are mandatory, and marina rules require boats to be seaworthy, operate under their own power and observe a five-knot limit on approach.

Berths include power, water, reasonable rubbish disposal and access to marine sewage disposal at the fuel dock. A self-service fuel wharf operates 24 hours a day, while gated berths, private-access docks and round-the-clock camera monitoring support security. Toilets and showers are provided on both sides of the marina, with coin-operated washing machines and dryers in the northern amenities building. What stands out to us is how easily an owner can step from the car to a properly supported boat.

The boatyard uses a 40-tonne travel lift with a maximum published beam of five metres, height of 5.2 metres excluding mast and sling spread of 5.9 metres; length depends on the vessel's balance point. Lift-and-hold, water blasting, crane, towing, forklift and hardstand work can be arranged. A stocked chandlery, marine businesses, detailing, café and restaurant make longer projects more comfortable. Liveaboard use requires prior written approval and an additional fee.

Our take is that Westernport Marina suits committed Victorian owners, fishing boats, cruising yachts and crews who want maintenance depth as well as a secure berth. Western Port is tidal, shallow beyond its channels and capable of fast-moving conditions, so plan around current charts, tide and weather rather than the sheltered marina impression. Confirm berth depth, travel-lift geometry and arrival instructions before moving, and arrange any owner or contractor work through the marina's induction and approval process.

Published marina depths range from approximately 1.1 to 2.6 metres at lowest astronomical tide. Supply complete dimensions, draft, insurance and registration, and obtain an allocated berth or storage position before arrival.

Berths include power, water, reasonable rubbish disposal and sewage pump-out at the fuel dock. The self-service fuel wharf is available 24 hours. Gated access and 24-hour cameras support security, while toilets, showers and coin-operated laundry are provided. A chandlery, marine businesses, café, restaurant and free onsite parking add everyday convenience for owners and visitors.

The 40-tonne travel lift accepts up to five metres of beam and 5.2 metres of height excluding mast, with length governed by balance and sling position. Lift-and-hold, pressure washing, crane, tow, forklift and hardstand services can be booked. Liveaboard use requires written approval and a fee. Confirm lift geometry, work plans and contractor induction, and navigate Western Port using current tide, depth and weather information.

Ideal for

Victorian boat owners, anglers and cruising crews wanting large-scale wet berthing, flexible storage, round-the-clock fuel and a capable boatyard at Hastings.

What we love

  • Nearly four hundred wet berths
  • Wet, dry, undercover and hardstand choices
  • Round-the-clock self-service fuel
  • A 40-tonne travel lift and working boatyard
  • Chandlery, dining and amenities onsite

To keep in mind

Berth depths vary materially, so match draft and dimensions to the allocated position. Travel-lift suitability depends on beam, height, balance and sling geometry; liveaboard use and maintenance work require marina approval, and Western Port passages need careful tidal planning.
