Marina facilities

Marina boatyards and hardstands

Plain-English definition

A boatyard is the working maintenance area associated with a marina; a hardstand is the surfaced area where lifted vessels are supported ashore. A marina can have berths without a full-service yard, and a lift without the contractors or storage time needed for the planned work.

Boatyard and hardstand specifications to confirm

  • Permitted work and maximum time ashore
  • Contractor access and approved-trades rules
  • Power, water, waste and environmental controls
  • Cradle or stand system for the hull type
  • Security, insurance and after-hours access

Boatyard and hardstand availability and vessel suitability

Facility pages and directories often reduce a capability to yes or no. Your vessel may sit outside the operating envelope, the service may require notice, or conditions may have changed since publication. Ask the marina to confirm the relevant limits for your boat and intended date.
