Marina travel lift capacity and vessel limits
Plain-English definition
A travel lift is a mobile gantry crane that raises a vessel in slings and moves it between the water and a hardstand. The advertised tonnage is only one limit: clear width, sling positions, draft at the lift bay and yard support can all control whether a particular boat can be handled.
Travel lift specifications to confirm
- Rated capacity with the yard’s operating margin
- Clear inside width and maximum vessel beam
- Lift-bay depth and tidal restrictions
- Approved sling positions for the hull
- Hardstand cradle, mast and storage arrangements
Travel lift availability and vessel suitability
Facility pages and directories often reduce a capability to yes or no. Your vessel may sit outside the operating envelope, the service may require notice, or conditions may have changed since publication. Ask the marina to confirm the relevant limits for your boat and intended date.
